Career
Zaheer Khan was the most complete Indian fast bowler of his generation and the spearhead of the attack that won the 2011 World Cup. Left-arm, around 135 kph at his peak, he was defined less by raw pace than by control of both conventional and reverse swing.
A season at Worcestershire in 2006 followed a period out of the side and transformed him: he returned with a fuller length, a more disciplined line and a mastery of the older ball that made him India's most dangerous bowler in the final third of an innings. The 2007 Test series in England, where he exploited reverse swing repeatedly, was the clearest demonstration.
He was joint-leading wicket-taker at the 2011 World Cup and remains among India's most successful fast bowlers in Test cricket.
