How this site works
The short version: open data, computed in public, with the gaps labelled rather than hidden.
Where do these cricket statistics come from?
Every career figure is computed from Cricsheet, an open ball-by-ball archive licensed under CC BY 4.0. The site adds up the deliveries itself rather than copying totals from a commercial statistics provider, which is why the working can be checked and why nothing here infringes anyone else’s database.
Why do some older players show incomplete records?
The ball-by-ball archive begins in 2001 for Tests and 2002 for One Day Internationals. Careers that started before then are only partly covered, so those pages label the shortfall instead of presenting a partial figure as a career total. Records for players who debuted after roughly 2005 are complete.
How do I build my own Playing XI?
Use the team selector on this page. Pick eleven players from the squad list and the sheet checks the same things a captain would: eleven names, at least one wicketkeeper and at least four bowling options. Your selection is saved in your browser, so it survives a refresh.
How often are the numbers updated?
The archive is rebuilt from source after each round of international and franchise cricket, and every page shows the date its statistics were last recomputed.
Is CricketTaken affiliated with the ICC, the BCCI or any board?
No. It is an independent cricket reference site with no affiliation to any cricket board, league or broadcaster, and it uses no official logos or licensed imagery.
Can I reuse these cricket statistics?
The underlying Cricsheet data is CC BY 4.0, so derived statistics can be reused with attribution to Cricsheet. Written player biographies and editorial content on this site are our own.
