Privacy policy

Last updated 4 August 2026

This policy explains what CricketTaken (crickettaken.in) collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.

The short version

There are no accounts on this site, so we never ask for your name, email address or password, and we hold no personal profile of you. Two third-party services do run on these pages, and both set cookies: Google Analytics, which tells us which pages are read, and Google AdSense, which serves the advertising that pays for the site.

What we collect ourselves

Nothing that identifies you. This site is a set of static files served from a content delivery network. There is no database of visitors, no contact form and no sign-up.

Two features store information on your own device only, using your browser’s local storage. Neither is sent to us:

  • Your Playing XI. The team you build, including any photograph you upload to a player card, is saved in your browser so it survives a refresh. Uploaded photographs never leave your device. Clearing your browser data removes them.
  • Your theme choice. Whether you prefer the light or dark version of the site.

When you share a Playing XI, the team is encoded into the web address itself. We do not store it. Anyone with that link can see the team, so treat a shared link as public.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies and processes information such as your approximate location, device type, browser and the pages you view. IP addresses are handled by Google and are not exposed to us in raw form.

We use this only in aggregate, to decide what to write next and what to fix. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we do not combine analytics data with anything else. You can opt out for every site you visit using Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can control personalised advertising in Google My Ad Center, and opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info. Turning personalisation off does not remove advertising; it makes it less relevant.

Images served from other domains

Player photographs and country flags are loaded from a third-party sports data content delivery network. Your browser therefore contacts that provider directly when a page loads, which means it can see your IP address and user agent in the same way any website you visit can. We send it nothing else about you.

Blocking cookies entirely will not break the site. The statistics, articles and team builder all work without them.

Children

This site is a general-audience sports reference. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data ourselves, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request. For data held by Google through analytics and advertising, use the Google controls linked above, which cover access, deletion and objection under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the CCPA as applicable to you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the home page.
